Atletico Madrid defender Theo Hernandez has reportedly passed a medical with rivals Real Madrid and the switch will be announced at the end of the season.
The France Under-20 international is on a season-long loan with Alaves, where he has made 30 La Liga appearances and impressed many at left-back this campaign.
The 19-year-old, whose older brother Lucas also plays at Atletico and recently signed a new deal with Diego Simeone’s side, extended his contract to 2021 last year.
However, that has not stopped interest in his services and there have been strong reports recently that Real Madrid, Barcelona and Liverpool have been keen on signing him up.
What makes the potential switch to Real Madrid so highly scrutinized is that Atletico and their rivals reportedly have a ‘pact’, which means the two sides do not try and sign players from one another.
However, it appears Hernandez is set to break that pact, with a report that Real Madrid have pipped rivals Barcelona to the signing of the defender.
The reports come just days after Hernandez’s agent revealed that his client was not close to signing for either Barcelona or Real.
