Griezmann is Manchester United’s No.1 summer transfer target as he looks to add goals to his team.
The Red Devils have been tipped to trigger the French forward’s £86m release clause and personal terms are already thought to have been agreed.
Earlier this month Griezmann rated his chances of coming to Old Trafford as six out of ten.
And with their place in next season’s Champions League assured it looks like Jose Mourinho’s side might have done enough to convince him to join United – who appear to be the only side in the running for his signature.
Spanish Journalist and Atletico Madrid expert Antonio Ruiz told Spanish radio programme deporte coupe: “Griezmann has transmitted to the hierachy of the club [Atletico] that wants to leave.”
It will be music to the ears of Jose Mourinho who is on the lookout for at least one world-class striker.
His side suffered from too many draws this season and Griezmann has the kind of quality that can unlock the door.
Mourinho has told United’s board who he wants and has challenged chief executive Ed Woodward to go out and bring him his targets.
The Portuguese boss explained: “Ed Woodward has my analysis, what I want.
So now it’s up to him, to the owners and for the people who work with him.
“So I’ll just wait. But I don’t care about football for now.”
