Liverpool told to meet £17.5m valuation of Danish Defender

According to the TalkSPORT, Turkish side Fenerbahce have increased the asking price for Simon Kjaer, who has been on the radar of Jurgen Klopp since his arrival at Liverpool.

It is believed that the Reds and AC Milan are both long-term admirers of the 28-year-old centre-back, while the same sources revealed earlier this week that Brighton are also keen on the Dane.

With the powerful defender in such high demand, Fenerbahce believe they can pocket a sizeable fee on their star asset during the summer window. And the reports from Turkish newspaper Fanatik claim that Kjaer’s initial valuation of £13m has now been increased to £17.5m.

The reports suggest that League 1 trio Monaco, Lyon and PSG are all in the race for the 28-year-old Denmark international, but Liverpool and AC Milan remain at the front of the queue.

Kjaer finished the Turkish Super League season with three goals and one assist in 43 games for the Istanbul giants.

Meanwhile, Liverpool talented youngster Joe Gomez is a target for newly promoted Premier League club Brighton.

The 20-year-old Gomez has only moved to Merseyside club back in 2015 for £3.5m but a knee injury has limited his first-team contribution. The England youth-team star played just three FA Cup matches last term with the defeat to Wolves proving to be a disappointment.

The talented centre-back only played seven times the previous season before he suffered a cruciate ligament injury playing for England Under-21s back in October 2015.
