CHELSEA TARGET £62M MORATA AFTER MISSING OUT ON LUKAKU

After losing out to Manchester United in the battle for Romelu Lukaku, Chelsea are set to make a £62 million move for Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata, according to the Sun.

It reports that Antonio Conte “is desperate to agree a deal for Morata,” with hopes of bringing Lukaku back to Stamford Bridge having been dashed and Diego Costa set to return to Atletico Madrid even though they cannot register him until January.

But Chelsea boss Conte is in for a nervy wait, the Sun says, with the bid “likely to be turned down by Madrid, who know they are in a strong bargaining position.”

Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane also wants to keep Morata despite the player’s reported keenness to move to the Premier League.

The need to keep Morata may be very valid after James Rodriguez completed a two year loan move to Bayern Munich earlier today. Chelsea may have to break the bank by doing more than their first reported £62 million offer if they must land the Spanish striker.
