Real Madrid beat Real Sociedad as Cristiano Ronaldo nets Hat-trick

Cristiano Ronaldo bagged a hat-trick as Real Madrid crushed a miserable Real Sociedad on Saturday to move third in La Liga.

Lucas Vazquez opened the scoring after just 49 seconds as Real Madrid flew out of the blocks, with Ronaldo doubling the lead when he finished a superb team move.

Toni Kroos curled home the third with a sumptuous effort from the edge of the box in the 34th minute, with Ronaldo heading home from a corner to make it four before half-time.

Juanmi nodded against the post as Sociedad tried to get back into the game, with Jon Bautista grabbing a consolation before Ronaldo completed his hat-trick from close range.

Asier Illaramendi netted another in the final stages as the game broke down, but his team were already well beaten.

Cristiano Ronaldo had a nightmare first half of the season, mocked by Spanish media and widely considered to be past his prime and on a steep decline.

However, he is showing once more that you cannot write him off that easily.

Ronaldo grabbed a hat-trick, continuing the good goalscoring form he has shown in the past few weeks, even if some of his performances leave a bit to be desired.

Ronaldo grabbed two against Deportivo La Coruna, two against Valencia and three here, to take his recent total to seven goals in four games—he blanked against Levante last weekend.

The Portuguese striker is coming into form at the right time, as the Champions League kicks into gear once more.
