Barcelona have announced that they signed Bordeaux winger Malcom on a five-year contract.
Malcom has been attracting interest from the Premier League and Serie A, and it had been expected that the Brazilian would sign for Roma after terms were agreed between the clubs and the player.
However, on Monday, Barcelona made an improved bid for the 21-year-old which resulted in Bordeaux preventing Malcom from finalising a switch to the Stadio Olimpico reminding football faithfuls how Willian was
snatched from the faces of Tottenham by Chelsea years back despite having had his medicals at the North London Club.
Barcelona have now confirmed that they have won the race to sign the player for a fee of €42m (£37.34m) subject to a medical with Malcom committing his future to the Catalan giants until 2023.
Malcom leaves Bordeaux having scored a total of 20 goals in 84 appearances in Ligue 1.
Barcelona are also in the race to sign Chelsea and Brazil winger Willian but both clubs are yet to reach an agreement as the London club have rebuffed three Barcelona offers.
Will the signing of Malcom put an end to Barcelona’s interest in Willian or will the La Liga Champions cough out Chelsea’s asking price of £70m? time will definitely tell.
