Liverpool has been rumored to be interested in the business of importing Everton’s Richarlison to Anfield in the summer.
The Brazilian forward has been an outstanding performer for the Toffees this season scoring 12 goals in 29 appearances and also featured for his country at the last international break.
According to reports in Brazil, Jürgen Klopp recently had Richarlison’s agent Renato Velasco round at his place for tea and crumpets, leading to speculation of a bid worth north of £70million for the forward.
The reports come with doubts on Richarlison’s possible movement to the Anfield club, at least for two reasons.
First, the Merseyside rivalry has made it a scarce affair to have a player move between both sides. The last of such move was in 2002 when Abel Xavier moved from Anfield to the Blue half of Merseyside. So it is going to be ground breaking news if this move becomes reality.
Second, Liverpool have a sensational forward in Mohammad Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane whose influence in Liverpool’s quest for the premier league title this season cannot be overemphasized. To add Richarlison to the pack means pressure for fellow Brazilian forward Firmino (good for the team) and could also mean Richarlison is ready to start from the bench.
However, supposedly there are a queue of teams equally willing to offer Velasco some light refreshments, including PSG, Milan and Barcelona, which does make the whole thing whiff of a story that benefitted from the ‘input’ of the agent, but it is a rumour after all.
