Super Falcons head coach, Thomas Dennerby has hailed his team who faced the host nation, France at the last group stage tie of Group A on Monday night.
The Nigerian female football team came from the back of a disappointing 3-0 loss to Norway in the opening match to beat Korea Republic and now lost 1-0 to France in the third and final group stage games.
Dennerby’s girls ensured the French ladies had it tough, denying them attacking penetration until the first shot on target came after 65 minutes.
Corrine Diacre’s ladies needed a twice taken penalty kick to get their first and only goal in the game after Ngozi Ebere was red carded for taken a second yellow card for bringing down Kadidiatu Diani in the 18 yard box and despite the loss, Coach Thomas Dennerby is happy with his team.
The Super falcons suffered eight nil in the hands of the same French team last year and Dennerby is happy that his team could push the French ladies in this fashion.
Dennerby’s ladies now wait for the rest of the group matches to see if they qualify to the next round of the 2019 FIFA Women World Cup holding in France
