Emre Can is keen on joining Manchester United after growing unsettled at Juventus, according to reports in Italy. The former Liverpool midfielder admitted he was ‘furious’ at being left out of the Italian giants’ Champions League squad and he is now eyeing an exit.
Juventus are said to be considering using Can and team-mate Mario Mandzukic as makeweights in any deal for Paul Pogba but Can’s entourage have been contacted by a number of clubs across Europe regardless and he is weighing up his options.
Interest has largely come from Germany and England and Manchester United are viewed as the most attractive option available to the 25-year-old, according to Tuttosport.
Can said last month after finding out he wasn’t registered to compete in European football for his club this season: ‘On Tuesday they phoned me and told me, in a conversation that didn’t even last a minute, that I was not on the list and they didn’t give an explanation. ‘That does make me angry and furious because I think that I played well last season, above all in the Champions League.
‘I really can’t understand this and will now see what I decide to do from here and I will seek talks with the club next week.’ His team-mate Mandzukic – heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford in January – was also left out of the Champions League squad.
The pair’s former manager Max Allegri is also thought to be keen on replacing under fire Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in the Manchester United hot seat and would be open to both Can and Mandzukic being part of his squad list.
