Liverpool Manager, Jurgen Klopp has come out in defense of the club’s management on the way the Timo Werner transfer fell through.
Timo Werner had magneted the love of the German manager but Klopp believes the timing was not right.
Werner has not also hidden his love for the club and his admiration for the Liverpool manager especially in recent times. However, the negative economic effect of the Corona virus has handicapped the club from meeting the £54m valuation of the striker by RB Leipzig.
The reds are left with eating the humble pie of losing the German forward to Chelsea. But Klopp thinks it’s ok.
“Discussing with the players about things like salary waivers and on the other hand buying a player for £50-60m, we have to explain.” Klopp told Sky Germany.
Chelsea who have met the £54m price tag valuation of Werner are now in pole position to land the German striker by summer.
The Londoners have been popular with hijacking players in the transfer window when one or two other clubs are in pole positions already. The deal with former Shakhtar Donestk winger, Willian and present Liverpool’s poster boy, Mohammad Salah are two of many examples.
