Antonio Conte and his staff have reportedly been dismissed by Chelsea, paving the way for Maurizio Sarri’s arrival.
The former Italy CT has essentially been a lame duck at Stamford Bridge since the end of last season, but the Blues couldn’t agree a compensation deal with Napoli for Sarri.
That meant that Conte had to continue to take first team training or be in breach of contract, and he took the morning session today before the players were sent home.
Now Sky Italia is reporting that the former Juventus Coach and his staff have been informed that they will be relieved of their duties.
That would indicate that a deal is finally done for Sarri, who could be announced today or tomorrow according to Napoli’s lawyer.
Conte guided Chelsea to the League and FA Cup titles in his two years spell at the club but constant feud with the clubs hierarchy over transfers and also player fallout resulted in relationship meltdown which has led to his dismissal.
