REAL MADRID are ready to launch a stunning raid on Manchester City by offering £70million and Gareth Bale for Raheem Sterling, according to reports.
Los Blancos have identified the England sensation as their next potential big-name signing and are ready to try and unsettle the in-form winger.
According to Sky Sports, Real chiefs will watch Sterling in action over the international break later this month.
Gareth Southgate’s side are at home to Montenegro on September 14 before a trip to Kosovo three days later.
They will then propose a deal for Sterling that is set to include Welsh wantaway Bale as part of the move.
Zidane was hopeful of offloading the 30-year-old in the summer but his move to China collapsed in the final stages.
Manchester City are likely to reject any advances from Real Madrid for their star man.
Sterling, 24, is integral to any success under Pep Guardiola and he has started the season in terrific form with seven goals in his opening ten league matches.
Real Madrid’s latest interest may prove that they feel confident Sterling is eager to make a switch to the Bernabeu.
Sterling’s representatives met Real bosses over the summer where they were told the winger has an interest in moving later in his career.
But it seems the La Liga giants are ready to force the issue sooner rather than later.
Guardiola is unlikely to want Bale as part of any deal and therefore Real Madrid will need to fork out a fortune to land him permanently.
Nyemar remains the world’s most expensive player following his £198million move to Paris Saint-Germain but Sterling’s transfer fee could eclipse that.
City are well aware of Real’s interest and are preparing to offer him a wage packet worth £450,000-a-week.
