Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy has been named the EA Sports Premier League player of the month.
Vardy scored four goals in three games during October to help City maintain their excellent start to the season
City currently sit third in the table and just two points behind Premier League holders and current second place team Manchester City.
Brendan Rodgers’ men won two of three games in October, losing only to Liverpool and scoring 12 goals, largely thanks to the 9-0 away win over Southampton.
Vardy scored a hat-trick in that historic away win to continue his own fine start to the campaign.
The experienced striker has scored 10 times in 11 league games, making him the league’s top scorer.
“It’s great to win the award but it just shows what the team have been doing as well,” he told premierleague.com .
“We’ve been putting good performances in and fortunately for me I have been getting the chances and putting them away.”
The player of the month award is Vardy’s fourth in the Premier League of his career, moving him level with Dennis Bergkamp, Thierry Henry, Frank Lampard, Cristiano Ronalo, Paul Scholes and Alan Shearer.
