AUBAMEYANG HATRICK GIVES ARSENAL 4-2 WIN AGAINST LEEDS UTD

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored his first Premier League hat-trick as Arsenal held off a Leeds United comeback to win 4-2 at Emirates Stadium.

Aubameyang netted his first on 13 minutes, when he cut in from the left side before firing low beyond Illan Meslier.

Arsenal went 2-0 ahead from the penalty spot on 41 minutes as Aubameyang sent Meslier the wrong way after the Leeds goalkeeper had fouled Bukayo Saka.

Dani Ceballos’s nutmegged pass after a slick team move then set up Hector Bellerin, who beat Meslier at his near post for the Gunners’ third on the stroke of half-time.

Aubameyang completed his treble two minutes after the restart with a close-range header from Emile Smith Rowe’s delivery.

Pascal Struijk’s header reduced the arrears on 58 minutes and Helder Costa added a second 11 minutes later, before Aubameyang was denied his fourth goal as he hit the post.

Arsenal’s biggest home win of the season moves them above Leeds to 10th spot on 34 points. Leeds drop to 11th, two points behind the Gunners.

HARRISON, BAMFORD ON TARGET AS LEEDS BEAT CRYSTAL PALACE 2-0

Jack Harrison and Patrick Bamford scored in either half as Leeds beat Crystal Palace 2-0 to climb into the Premier League’s top 10.

Harrison’s deflected shot gave Leeds a flying start and Bamford tucked home a rebound for his 12th league goal of the season early in the second period.

Leeds secured their 10th top-flight win of the season and gained sweet revenge for a 4-1 defeat at Selhurst Park in November.

They should have won by a bigger margin after spurning several chances, but registered a first clean sheet in seven matches this year.

Palace, who arrived in freezing West Yorkshire on the back of two straight league wins, were a clear second best for most of the match.

Eberechi Eze’s individual brilliance was too fleeting to halt a Leeds onslaught, while the Londoners lacked a cutting edge in the absence of injured top scorer Wilfried Zaha.

Leeds were quick to punish Palace for allowing them too much space on the edge of the penalty area when Harrison’s well-struck shot deflected off Gary Cahill to give the home side a third-minute lead.

Vicente Guaita was forced into a sprawling low save soon after to turn away Bamford’s excellent header from Ezgjan Alioski’s cross.

Bamford should have extended Leeds’ advantage in the 22nd minute after out-witting the Palace defence on the halfway line.

But after spinning Cahill for a free run on goal, the Leeds striker ballooned his shot tamely off target.

Palace began to pose more of a threat as the first period progressed, with Eze’s individual brilliance keeping Leeds’ rearguard on their toes.

Jordan Ayew fired the Londoners’ first shot on target low into Illan Meslier’s hands in the 36th minute.

Leeds defender Pascal Struijk headed Raphinha’s free-kick over the crossbar and somehow headed well wide from in front of goal after diving on to Kalvin Phillips’ cross.

Palace’s appeals for a penalty just before half-time when Ayling eased Ayew off Jairo Riedewald’s throughball were waved away by referee Andre Marriner.

Leeds made another fast start to the second period, extending their lead in the 52nd minute.

Raphinha’s thumping shot was well saved by Guaita and Bamford followed up to turn home the rebound from eight yards.

Eze could have hauled Palace back into it in the 67th minute but he blazed substitute Michy Batshuayi’s cutback over the crossbar.

Stuart Dallas’s fizzing low drive then forced a great save from Guaita and Harrison’s angled effort struck the crossbar as Leeds chased a third goal.

SIGURDSSON, CALVERT LEWIN ON TARGET IN EVERTON WIN OVER LEEDS UTD.

First-half goals by Gylfi Sigurdsson and Dominic Calvert-Lewin secured Everton’s fourth straight away win and sent them sixth with a pulsating 2-1 victory at Leeds United.

Sigurdsson handed Carlo Ancelotti’s side a ninth-minute lead with a side-footed finish thanks to a fine cross from the left by Lucas Digne.

Ezgjan Alioski slammed a powerful volley against a post for Leeds before Calvert-Lewin doubled the Toffees’ lead with a far-post header four minutes before half-time.

Three minutes after the break Patrick Bamford fed Raphinha, who made it 2-1 with a composed strike.

A stunning triple-save by goalkeeper Robin Olsen maintained Everton’s lead as he kept out efforts by Mateusz Klich, Raphinha and Jack Harrison.

On 71 minutes Stuart Dallas’s cross was headed on to the crossbar by Bamford, and Everton held out for the win.

Everton have 36 points, four behind fourth-placed Liverpool with two matches in hand.

Leeds lie 11th on 29 points.

BAMFORD’S EARLY PENALTY END BURNLEY’S UNBEATEN RUN.

MUN 6-2 LEE: MC TOMINAY, FERNANDES INSPIRE UNITED MASSIVE VICTORY OVER LEEDS

Scott McTominay scored the earliest double in Premier League history as Manchester United earned a thrilling 6-2 victory over Leeds United at Old Trafford.

The Scot drilled in a superb opener from Bruno Fernandes’s pass before finishing Anthony Martial’s through-ball to put Man Utd two up inside three minutes.

Fernandes then started and finished a slick move to make it three, before Victor Lindelof made it 4-0 in the 37th minute after Martial flicked Luke Shaw’s corner into his path.

Liam Cooper pulled a goal back three minutes before the break and it took a splendid save by David De Gea in the home goal to push away Raphinha’s first-time volley on 50 minutes.

But any hopes of a fightback by Leeds were dashed on 66 minutes when McTominay turned provider for Daniel James to slot in a fifth.

Fernandes added a sixth goal from the penalty spot after Martial had been fouled, before Stuart Dallas scored a spectacular consolation for Leeds in a match featuring 43 shots.

Man Utd’s biggest win of 2020/21 moves them up to third, five points behind Liverpool with a match in hand. Leeds are 14th with 17 points.

LEEDS 1-2 WHU: OGBONNA HEADS HAMMERS TO FIFTH ON THE LOG.

Defender scores late on as the Hammers come from behind to claim a 2-1 win at Leeds United

Angelo Ogbonna’s late goal helped West Ham United come from behind to beat Leeds United 2-1 at Elland Road.

Mateusz Klich put Leeds ahead on six minutes from the penalty spot at the second attempt after Lukasz Fabianski had brought down Patrick Bamford.

The midfielder’s initial spot-kick was saved but the VAR adjudged Fabianski had come off his line too early and the retaken penalty was converted.

After the break Bamford curled a fine effort narrowly wide, while at the other end, Sebastien Haller had his header tipped over by Illan Meslier.
