ASTON VILLA STUMBLE TO 1-2 LOSS TO BRIGHTON AT VILLA PARK.

Solly March’s brilliant second-half goal earned 10-man Brighton & Hove Albion a first win at Villa Park in an enthralling match.

Brighton took the lead against the run of play on 12 minutes with Danny Welbeck’s first goal for the club.

Welbeck collected Adam Lallana’s pass and sprinted clear before dinking the ball over Emiliano Martinez.

Villa equalised two minutes after half-time when a free-kick from Bertrand Traore, an early substitute for Ross Barkley, was converted by Ezri Konsa.

Brighton regained their lead on 56 minutes through March’s superb first-time strike.

In late drama, Tariq Lamptey was sent off for a second booking before Villa were awarded a penalty for a foul on Trezeguet by March.

But referee Michael Oliver overturned his decision after a review.

Villa stay sixth with 15 points. A second win of the season puts Brighton on nine points in 16th.
